During this Saturday's Farmers' Market we will learn about all things coffee from historian Chase Hornberger.

You are invited to experience what a functioning tavern kitchen would have looked like (and smelled like!) as it prepared coffee for its tenants in early-America. From its introduction to the country in the early 1700s to its rapid consumption by armies in Civil War, coffee has played a significant role in our nations history. This program will cover the history of coffee from its place of origin, its growing process, its industrialization, and more all leading up to how it eventually became the household commodity we know today. Historical demonstrations of the roasting, grinding, and brewing process will be done on-site and you’ll even get to sample the finished product!
