Oysterfest at Dill’s Tavern

Bring the whole family to celebrate our local historical connection to oysters at Dill’s Tavern on Saturday, April 22nd, from noon to 5 p.m. with food by York Fish & Oyster, live music, and local craft beverages.

Today, the many buildings of Dill’s Tavern have come to tell not only the history of Dillsburg, but the story of life on Pennsylvania’s frontier and even a slice of our nation’s history. These insights continue to develop through the tavern’s archeological investigations. During these digs, one item has far outnumbered the others: oyster shells.

Investigation shows that oysters were exchanged for products made by the tavern’s distillery. Oysters came back to the property from Baltimore in the barrels that were sent to quench the thirst of the burgeoning shipping metropolis.
