We welcome you to join us for another Speaker Series event on Thursday, September 15th at Maple Shade Barn to learn about PA Dutch Language and Culture.
This talk will provide an overview of the what most historians and ethnographers consider to be core element of the Pennsylvania Dutch culture: the language. Before the World War II, Pennsylvania Dutch, a dialect of high German, was once commonly spoken in York County. The discussion will be given by Christopher Witmer as a power point presentation covering the origins of the language, its evolution, as well as its use in both everyday life and popular culture.
This event is free for members and $5 for nonmembers. No advanced ticket sales required.
