Pumpkins, apple butter, and fresh cider — it’s harvest season! Celebrate the 105th anniversary of Farmer’s Fair at Dill’s Tavern from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday, October 17, during a day of demonstrations and festivities including activities for children and living history encampments. Take part in traditional craft demonstrations such as hearth cooking (with food samples!), blacksmithing, and woodworking. Help make apple butter from cider pressed at Agriculture Day earlier in the season. Freshly made potato chips and sandwiches will be on sale, along with honey, cider, and cigars made with Dill’s Tavern tobacco. This is a free event.
Tickets for the annual quilt raffle will be available for $2 each or three for $5.
The Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society (NYCHAPS) strives to inspire by connecting the lessons of the past to the challenges of today. Through hands-on experience, the past culture of the area is brought to life in a deeper and richer educational experience. Through preservation, research, and our collections, NYCHAPS seeks to inspire a different way of learning history.
