Maple Tree Tapping and Syrup Boil

Learn how to tap trees for sap and boil it down for fresh maple syrup. Throughout February and March, NYCHAPS will be tapping maple trees in the Northern York County region. The tree tapping will be followed by a syrup boil at Dill’s Tavern on Saturday, March 11th, 2017.

Old-Fashioned Hymn Sing

Celebrate Pennsylvania tradition at Historic Monaghan Church during an afternoon Hymn Sing of all your old favorite songs at 2 p.m. on March 12th, 2017.

Cheese-Making & Butter Basics Workshop

Learn to make two of our most important foods with historian April Thomas at her “Cheese-Making & Butter Basics” Workshop on Saturday, March 18th, 2017.

Pancake and Sausage Breakfast

Join us for fresh maple syrup, pancakes, and sausage at a breakfast where we showcase the amber bounty harvested by the volunteers of this year’s Maple Tree Tapping and Syrup Boil on Saturday, March 18th, 2017. Admission is $7 for adults and $4.50 for children 5 to 12 years.

Traditional Basket Weaving Workshop

Learn the fundamentals of basket-weaving and create a traditional tote bag basket under the guidance of Jean Foutz, a member of the Central Pennsylvania Basket Weavers Guild on Saturday, March 18th, 2017, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Maple Shade Barn.
